Free Electives

You are free to choose one course of 12 credit points from the complete course catalogue at Master’s level either at EPFL or at ETH Zurich. A minimum of 2 credits out of these 12 have to be acquired from the Course in Entrepreneurship. The free elective courses, which is chosen in consultation with your tutor, can either serve to deepen your scientific and technical knowledge related to your chosen specialization area, or to complement the range of skills you have acquired with those in other disciplines (economics, management, humanities, etc.).

The free elective is chosen in consultation with your tutor. The following are a few examples of free electives:

At EPFL:

• The Atomic Nucleus (Schneider)
• Advanced Energetics and Engines (Favrat, Haldi)
• Thermal Turbomachines (Ott)

At ETH Zurich:

• Gas Turbine Mechanics and Design (Abhari, Wettstein)
• Turbulence Modeling (Jenny)
• Renewable Energy Technologies I (Wokaun)

A total of 42 credits are required for elective courses (30 from the elective core courses and 12 free elective courses).
